Climate

Real change begins with knowledge — and grows through action.

The "Change Climate Change" Campaign started inside classrooms across Sinjar, where students engaged in dynamic climate awareness sessions that deepened their understanding of environmental risks and their role in protecting their community. What began as learning quickly evolved into leadership.

Moving beyond discussion, students took direct action. With determination and pride, they planted trees with their own hands — each tree carefully named by the student who planted it, symbolising responsibility, hope, and a personal commitment to a sustainable future.

In total, 500 trees were planted in Sinjar, Iraq. More than a planting initiative, this effort represents resilience, renewal, and the power of youth to drive meaningful climate action.

By integrating education with hands-on environmental engagement, the campaign is fostering a generation that does not simply learn about climate change — but actively works to change it.

This initiative is implemented under the Middle East Field Support Services Project / Cowater International, which is funded by Global Affairs Canada.
